Writing copy for your website and landing pages takes effort.
Props to you if you're doing this by yourself.
Isn't it a welcome break when you can just plug in a standard “How it works,” “About Us,” or “FAQ” for a headline? Sure is!
But there's also bad news. You’re essentially wasting prime real estate on your page by not telling the reader anything new.
The thing is, many readers (not all) like to skim through a page first before deciding whether to dive in further or not.
What they'll catch when skimming is your headlines. These alone should carry your message and give your reader a solid understanding of what this is about.
So, how could you rewrite your headlines to get your message across? Check out these example...
  • Write “On a mission to save cute koala bears“ instead of “About Us.”
  • Write “You’re ready to go in 3 simple steps” instead of “How it works.”
  • Write “Yes, we offer free shipping! And more answers to your questions” instead of “FAQ.”
Every one of these headlines gives your reader new information (and might even make them smile).
Now I know this stuff isn't easy. It's quite advanced, in fact. But take some time today to check your headlines and brainstorm how they could work harder for you.
