Live sessions are the lifeblood of a cohort-based course.
You get students together, the chat is buzzing, and there's magic happening in the breakout rooms.
But how do you carry that momentum forward and make sure students follow through and do the work?
Well, the email you send right after each live session plays a big part in that.
The job of this email is to recap what happened in the live session (especially for those who couldn't attend) and lay out the next steps.

Here are 6 elements your recap email can include

🖥 What you’ve covered in the live session: Give a brief summary of the main points, so they stick in your students' minds.
🎞 Link to the recording and other material: Point students to where they can rewatch the session and access other material that was shared.
📣 Shoutout students or include highlights from the chat: Reward the behaviors you want to see repeated. People love reading their own names and hearing that they've done something well.
📝 Mention assignments: What should your students do following this session? Is there a due date? Where can they get feedback?
📅 What's next on the agenda: When will the next session take place, and what will it be about? Sell them on attending it!
🚨 Remind where students can get help if they need any: They should never feel alone, always supported.

So, when should you send your recap email? I suggest getting it out within 24 hours of each live session.
